CB&Q GP7 251 eastbound at Naperville, Illinois on May 27, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. After departing Eola Yard, Extra 251 East is leaving Track 1 of the triple track main line and heading into the siding at Naperville to begin the days work. This train was known to the crew as the East End Way Freight, working the industries between Eola and Congress Park. This locomotive was built in November 1952 (c/n 16712) on EMD Order 5148, equipped with a steam generator. It became BN 1607 and was retired in November 1981. |
