Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Budd Gallery Cab 794 eastbound at Naperville, Illinois on January 28, 1966, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in 1965 by Edward G. Budd Co., (Job 9655-370) it was one of six Gallery Cab cars (#'s 790-795) delivered to the CB&Q to initiate push-pull service. This particular car seated 139 passengers and had toilet facilities. Note the Burlington Route logo on the door. There is no power car on this train. Two Budd cars could be electrically powered from taps on the 72 volt Auxiliary Generators on modified E-units. The air-conditioning was provided by propane-fueled Wakesha-driven units, and the heat came from steam generators on the locomotive. |
