| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad GP7 234 on the East End Way Freight at Naperville, Illinois, September 3, 1964, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. If this is not this locomotive's first assignment after leaving the paint shop in its shiny new "redbird" paint scheme, it is one of the first. It was delivered in what was termed the "blackbird" paint scheme by the local crews in September 1951 (c/n 14698), became BN 1590 and was retired in October 1982. Although it is equipped with a steam generator, the intake and exhaust stacks are covered with steel caps to keep out the weather. |
