| CB&Q XML-8 10260 at Cicero, Illinois on an unknown day in January 1981, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The CB&Q had 15 of these auto parts cars built by Pullman-Standard in July 1965 (#'s 10200-10214), and added 55 more (#10215-10269) specifically designed for the auto parts business. Some of the cars were in dedicated service, and one on-line auto parts supplier was Libby Owens Ford Glass in Ottawa, Illinois, to which some of these cars were assigned. This one is placarded as containing Automotive Glass. One source has it that if you were a loyal GM customer (purchased EMD locomotives), auto parts traffic would be routed onto your railroad. |
