This locomotive was assembled from components by the CB&Q in April 1940 at West Burlington, Iowa. This was one of the last steam locomotives assembled by the Burlington, this final series was in the 5621-5635 number series originally classed as O-5-A. They were fitted with cast steel solid pilots, soot blowers, box-pok 74 inch drivers, lightweight rods, roller bearings, and vestibule cabs, 250 psi boiler pressure, and had a tractive force of 67,500 pounds.
