SP SD40R 7322 at Bensenville, Illinois on January 23, 1987, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. According to the book, 'Southern Pacific Diesel Locomotive Compendium, Volume Two', by Joseph A. Strapac, this unit was built hn February 1966 as SD40 number 8415 (c/n 31496) , upgraded (completed September 18, 1980) and renumbered to SD40R 7322 at Sacrcmento. The upgrading amounted to replacing the installed electronics with Dash-2 equipment. It was retired August 6, 2002, sold to General Electric Credit Corp., then to BHP-BIO in Australia and renumbered to 3087, |
