GM&O F3 880B
Title:  GM&O F3 880B
Description:  Gulf Mobile & Ohio Railroad F3 880B departing Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in June 1978, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in December 1946 (c/n 3601) on EMD Order E695, it was retired in October 1978, the prime mover was removed, and it was put on display in a park in Farber, Missouri. However, the city felt it was a liability and safety hazard, and it was scrapped sometime around 1990. It is seen here heading a train known as "The Plug", a GM&O commuter train between Chicago and Joliet (anyone know the origin on the train name?). Also seen is BN E9Am 9910 which fared a bit better in the survival game, for a while, working for the Nashville and Eastern after retiring from the BN in 1992. It is seen here about to divert to the southwestern suburbs of Chicago.

GM&O F3 880B
Title:  GM&O F3 880B
Description:  GM&O F3 880B southbound at Alton Junction, Chicago, Illinois, August 1978 (exact day unknown) photo by Chuck Zeiler. This was known as Fort Wayne Junction to the GM&O people (it is listed as such in the GM&O Employees Timetable, and the published direction is Southward) and this is Train #17, unofficially, The Plug, the GM&O's commuter train between Chicago and Joliet. In the consist is a borrowed Amtrak coach, substituting for a GM&O coach in for maintenance. For the record, The Milwaukee Road also referred to this location as Alton Junction in their Employees Timetable (to define the limits of Chicago Union Station tracks).
