MILW FP7 97A at Union Station in Chicago, Illinois on June 29, 1966, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in January 1951 (c/n 10363) on EMD Order 3073A, it was retired in May 1980. It is seen here at the head of Train #101, the UP's "City of San Francisco", departing Union Station at 6:00 PM CST, or 7:00 PM locally. A year previously, this scene would have been covered with a train shed, completed in 1925. The shed had been removed in preparation for the construction of a high rise office building to be built on the air rights over the tracks. |
