BN RS3 4064 |
Description: |
Burlington Northern Railroad class ARS3 4064 in the dead line at Cicero, Illinois on an unknown day in September 1980, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in June 1953 as SP&S RS3 79 (c/n 80495), it became BN ARS3 4064 sometime after the March 2, 1970 merger, retired by the BN during April 1980. The frame is stencilled: SM-8-77. This locomotive and about a dozen more of Alco lineage were parked for a couple of weeks on the most southern track between Clyde and Cicero along Ogden Avenue. There was a fence on the other side of these locomotives. It was a challenge getting this photo. |
