Chesapeake & Ohio Railway E8 4026 at Robey Street in Chicago, Illinois on March 7, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The red warning light is lit, I'm not sure how it worked on the C&O, but on the CB&Q, the red warning light came on automatically with an emergency brake application. Sometimes hostlers would park a locomotive with an emergency brake application, to ensure that the locomotive didn't move, and to blow out the system. |
