Description:  SBD U18B 309 at Atlanta, Georgia on February 26, 1983, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was one of 105 built for the SCL, this copy built around March 1973 (c/n 38856). Most of SCL's U18B's were fitted with EMD's Blomberg truck from trade-in's. When no suitable trade-in trucks were available, GE used their two axle floating bolster (FB-2) truck.

The Seaboard Coast Line Railroad bought 105 U18B's, it was the only North American locomotive powered by the 8-cylinder 7FDL-8 prime mover.
