Description:
SP SD40R 7308, Clyde, Illinois, August 1982, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built as road number 8461 in April 1966 (c/n 31532) on EMD Order 7861, it was rebuilt to SD40R 7308 in July 1980. It was retired from the UP February 7, 2001, later becoming ICE 6415, then GECX 6415, and one source has it exported to Broken Hill Proprietžqy Company Ltd. (BHP) in Australia.

SP SD40R 7314, Phoenix, Arizona, December 1981, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built as road number 8416 in January 1966 (c/n 31497) on EMD Order 7861, it was rebuilt during August 1980 as SD40R 7314, retired from the UP August 6, 2002 without receiving a UP number, later became GECX 7314, and later still became HLCX 6336.

SP SD40R 7322 at Bensenville on Illinois, January 23, 1987, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. I will point out that this was a public road on the south side of the Milwaukee Road's Bensenville Shops, and all you had to do was drive up this road and snap photos like this, without even getting out of your car.

Description:
SP SD40R 7322 at Bensenville, Illinois on January 23, 1987, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. According to the book, 'Southern Pacific Diesel Locomotive Compendium, Volume Two', by Joseph A. Strapac, this unit was built hn February 1966 as SD40 number 8415 (c/n 31496) , upgraded (completed September 18, 1980) and renumbered to SD40R 7322 at Sacrcmento. The upgrading amounted to replacing the installed electronics with Dash-2 equipment. It was retired August 6, 2002, sold to General Electric Credit Corp., then to BHP-BIO in Australia and renumbered to 3087,
