CB&Q 4-4-0 Class A-2 35
Title:  CB&Q 4-4-0 Class A-2 35
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-4-0 American type Class A-2 35 at the New York World's Fair in Flushing, New York on May 28, 1940, photographer unknown, print from Gordon C. Bassett, Chuck Zeiler collection. According to the book, Steam Locomotives Of The Burlington Route, by Bernard G. Corbin and Richard F. Kerka, this locomotive was built by CB&Q's Aurora Shops in 1892 as Hannibal and St. Joseph Railroad 66, later renumbered H&StJ 666, and renumbered in 1904 into the CB&Q system as CB&Q 359. It was rebuilt in Denver in June 1932 for exhibition at the Century Of Progress (held in Chicago, Illinois during 1933-34) as Burlington & Missouri River Railroad 35. The following is from Hol Wagner, explaining the number 119 on the front of the smokebox:

It was used in the pageant (at the NY Fair during 1939-40) to represent Union Pacific No. 119 at the joining of the rails of the first transcontinental railroad at Promontory Summit, Utah, on May 10, 1869. And BTW, the 35 was backdated to represent B&MR for the 50th anniversary celebration of the Burlington's arrival at Denver in May 1882. It carried B&MR lettering for that, but by the next year when it went to Chicago's Century of Progress Exhibition it had been relettered CB&Q.

Title:  CB&Q 4-4-0 Class A-2 155
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-4-0 Class A-2 155, date, location and photographer unknown, Chuck Zeiler collection. Title:  CB&Q 4-4-0 307
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-4-0 307 at Galesburg, Illinois sometime in 1884, photographer unknown, print scanned from Louis Zadnichek collection. On the back of the print it was hand-written: Number 307 was built by the CB&Q in 1878. The following is from Hol Wagner:

The 307 was built at Aurora in 1878 (along with engines 308-310). It was renumbered 1307 in 1898 and KCStJ&CB 555 in 1900. It was sold on May 30, 1903, to an unknown buyer. Had it survived a year longer it would have become a member of the A-2 class.
