C&NW F7 416 northbound at Logan Boulevard in Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in April 1980, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Number 416 was built in October 1949 as C&NW F7 4077A (c/n 8558) on EMD Order E1188, entered suburban service (Cummins 440VAC HEP installed) June 1961, was renumbered to 416 in November 1971, retired by the C&NW December 31, 1977, sold to the RTA and leased back for operation until May 4, 1983. It was assigned RTA road number 310, but that number was not actually applied. RTA 416 sold to Naporano Iron and Metal, January 1985; resold to Cedar Valley Railroad, May 1985. |
