Illinois Central Railroad GP40 3074 at Covington, Tennessee on April 4, 1984, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 3074 was built in February 1970 (c/n 36170), later became ICG 3074, then HLCX 3074, then MCKX 4302, then PAL 2109. In this photo it shows a couple of unusual charateristics from a stock GP40. Unusual for the IC was the dynamic brakes, which appeared on IC GP40 numbers 3060 - 3074. Also unusual was the water level sight glass and the L shaped Engineer's front window. |
