Description:
The Milwaukee Road E9 36C at Union Station in Chicago, Illinois on February 27, 1966, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built in April 1961 (c/n 26566) on EMD Order 7596A. It is seen at Union Station in Chicago as the demolition of everything above street level continues. The first step was the removal of the train sheds over the Milwaukee Road's tracks which allowed (briefly) photos of trains in daylight. This will be covered over shortly by office buildings built on the air rights.
