Description:
Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad, West Iowa Division, Creston Station, 116 West Adams, Creston, Union County, IA from the Library of Congress. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an integral part of the town of Creston, which grew up around the railroads and received its name as a result of its location on the crest of the Iowa divide. When built, it was notable for its red tile roof, yellow brick walls and impressive green glass canopies (since removed).

Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad depot at Naperville, Illinois on an unknown day in June 1981 Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This depot was built in 1910. As a teenager ( circa 1965 ) I hung around this station, both as a railfan and an employee of the local newspaper agency, retrieving newspaper supplements as they were delivered by the CB&Q. Behind me was a tavern, and unfortunately, I was a minor so I never saw the inside of the tavern, but I did witness folks arriving on the CB&Q would frequent the tavern on their way home, a club house from my teenage perspective.

Burlington Northern Railroad SD7 6034 at Oregon, Illinois, October 1981, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 6034 was built during July-August 1953 as CB&Q SD7 311 (c/n 18331) on EMD Order 5242, became BN 6034 and was retired in August 1983. Looks like the hogger did a good job of spotting the locomotive's front steps on the crosswalk to the station.

This building was the original depot in West Chicago for the Aurora Branch Railroad, later the Chicago and Aurora Railroad, still later the CB&Q. The town was known as Turner, named for John B.
