Description:
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-8-4 Class O-5-A 5608 on a stock extra, date, location, and photographer unknown, print by Martin Brady, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 5608 was built by the CB&Q using components supplied by various manufacturers (the boiler was by Baldwin), completed at West Burlington, Iowa in September 1936, retired in May 1961. While not a good photo, it shows the locomotive in as-built configuration with spoked pilot wheels and drivers. The CB&Q Locomotive Assignment Sheet dated March 1, 1940 shows 5608 assigned to the Chicago Division.
