Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad SD7 407 at Lincoln, Nebraska on an unknown date in 1960, photograph by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Built in December 1952 ( c/n 17403 ) on EMD Order 5140, it became BN 6055 and was retired in March 1983. This was one of 12 lightweight SD7's ordered by the CB&Q for use on branch lines that could not support heavier locomotives. It had a single fuel tank, no dynamic brakes, and no steam generator. |
