Title:
CB&Q PMC 9769
Description:
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad PMC (Passenger Motor Car) 9769 at Hastings, Nebraska on July 13, 1960, Kodachrome by Dick Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 9769 was completed in October 1930, body built by Pullman-Standard, equipped with a six cylinder 400 horsepower gasoline engine built by Electro-Motive Corporation ( serial number 460 ), and the electrical equipment was supplied by Westinghouse. It had controls at both ends and a 15 foot mail apartment. Although it contained no passenger accommodations, it was capable of pulling five or six cars. It was re-powered with a diesel engine at an unknown date. In its final years on the CB&Q it was assigned to yard engine duty. In February 1966 it was sold to Southern Industrial Railroad, Centerville, Iowa.
